about

A song about an unlucky or troubled individual who finds himself in a rough spot. The singer is telling us the misfortunate’s story asking if we can help him get far from here, wherever “here” is. It may be a life full of mistakes, bad judgement calls or unanticipated tragedies, bad luck or companions which has forced the unfortunate into a cycle of self-destruction he needs help with to escape.

lyrics

FAR FROM HERE

You saved him from that rope
But now he’s lying
To himself and losing hope
Who’s to say he won’t try again
Save him from this town
You know it’s heartless
Never gave him time
To get a head-start, yes
Won’t you take him
Far from here
Back to where
The water is clear

Far from here
Far from here

Show him the right road
You know he’s driving
Looking for a way out
Sick of just surviving
Help him carry his load
He’s not asking for much now
Some worse than him
Never reap what they sow

They tell him to get over it
How he needs to find closure
In other words bull shit
About as much use as a Bishop’s crozier

Far from here
Far from here
Far from here
Far from here

He came here trying as a young man
And stayed here dying as an old man
Now he’s on his knees having never learned
Life is short, not always sweet and boy can it burn

Won’t you take him far from here
Back to where the water is clear

Far from here
Far from here
Far from here
Far from here
